My bet is someone has seen some electronic communications at these various institutions regarding the merits of applicants. If so, I imagine those comms would be subject to discovery if cases went to trial.
Many universities started as divinity schools (e.g. Yale, Harvard). Too bad that aspect of spirituality isn’t part of their mission anymore.
