Hes proven himself a drama queen. Jets can have him.
Unfortunately, he is 27, and he did not play last year, which often means he will be injury prone all year.
His new contract guarantees $35 million, which is the only number that matters in the NFL.
That's about $2 million more than the guaranteed money Pittsburgh offered last year, so, I guess the holdout was worth it.
On the other hand, starting over with a new team, new coaches, new offensive scheme, and a new backfield is going to be really stressful for a couple months.
Just think how silly all of this is! Here we have athletes (many who are poor role models for the youth of this country) making millions. . .kids wanting their brand of sports shoes which parents are working at least an entire day to buy (I know. . .I substitute teach and the students especially in the Jr. High are always talking how much their shoes cost. . .and probably many picked them up at a resale shop). A distraction from learning. . .like my mother so so so many years ago . . when the “name brands” started appearing on items. . .told my brother, sister and I. . .wearing those clothes, etc. was free advertising for the company. She was a wise and wonderful mother.
The Steelers offered him $70 million over 5 years ($14M per year) last summer, with $45M over the first 3 years ($15M per). $33M was guaranteed. I don’t see how Bell came out ahead seeing as how he lost a whole year’s salary sitting out.
Also, Nick Foles to Jacksonville.
