A good cattle dog would have settled that bull down.

I've been watching Youtube videos of the old-school vet who practices in rural Michigan, "Dr. Pol". Frequently, animals break loose and he and the farmers have to go chasing them all over the place. I keep asking, "Where are the cattle or sheep dogs to round them up?" I know those canines are simply amazing in what they can do. Am I missing something?

Yup, I used to know a dairy farmer who used an Australian Blue heeler to bring in the cows. I felt sorry for any cow that didn’t comply right away.

My old dog was amazing at rounding up cattle in his day. It was just instinctive for him and something to behold- my neighbor's beef cattle would escape constantly and he had no fear, knew exactly the safe distance and how to get them to move- always in the right direction. He would have taken on that bull for sure.

He was a shelter adoption as a puppy. Had no training at it and we don't know what breed he is. They told us Catahoula...? But he is bigger than most (about 95lbs). Some dogs just have it I guess.
