You've been here long enough to know what "BTT" means; that it is a place holder so that a person can find and read a thread at a later time.

So don't assume things about what someone "thinks"/believes, when you see a post a "BTT" to any thread.

I do indeed know what BTT/BTTT means. From your definition it's you who doesn't know what it means.

The 2009 FreeRepublic Lexicon
Bump is used when someone wants to post a reply to a thread simply to "bump" it back to the top of the "Latest Posts" list so more visitors will see it. See also BTTT in the acronyms section.
BTTT - "Bump To The Top" or "Back To The Top" is used interchangeably with "Bump".

You've been here long enough to know that bkmk, for bookmark, is the common parlance on how somebody places a placeholder. Some people also use a simple period as a placeholder.

Contemporaneous usage evidenced with the cited Lexicon though it wasn't added in.
