Well, on your first two points, the Mexicans are kind of right. It was theirs (for all of 27 years) and we did steal it from them fair and square. The fact that the entire Mexican Cession was pretty much empty of Mexicans and economically worthless to Mexico negates their “right of return” since they were never there in the first place.

Latinos are one group only in our eyes, not theirs—except for political reasons. Non Mexican Latinos don’t particularly like Mexicans. My Costa Rican granddaughter thinks Mexicans are lazy, shiftless and can’t speak Spanish properly.

So true. Other South American Latino’s do NOT like Mexicans. You even see it on TV. The Netflix show Narcos in season three was all about the formation of the Mexican cartels. In one scene the main character Felix flies to Bogota, Columbia to meet with the cartel bosses. He ends up at the ranch of Pablo Escobar. Pablo tells him that he is going to feed him to his Hippo if he does not do what he says. Pablo tells Felix he hates Mexicans. At the end of the negotiation Felix asks Pablo if he was really going to feed him to his hippo. Pablo states that my hippo probably would not have eaten him because he hates Mexicans too.

I thought the fact the Netflix put this scene into the show tells how most other Latin Americans fells about Mexicans. I think to some extent it is the same way Arabs feel about Palestinians.

No, it wasn't ‘’theirs’’, that is to say the present day American Southwest. Not as far as the native American Indian tribes were concerned. And what did comprise ownership of that territory, as far as Spanish speakers were Spaniards, not Mexicans.
