There is a street in downtown Dallas
named Houston street. It is pronounced,
incredibly, as HOW-stun street.

In Dallas. I am surprised.

That is also the pronunciation of Houston Street in New York.

There’s a street in Austin - “Burnet” that I pronounced Bur-Net. I was corrected to “Burn-it”.

I pronounce it Houston, normally, like a native Dallasite would.

You must have heard a yank import pronouncing it thusly.
