President Trump on Monday became the first president since Bill Clinton to play host to a college football team that won a title in the NCAAs secondary division when he feted the North Dakota State Bison at the White House.
Trump surprised the squad with a spread of fast-food sandwiches in the East Room, posed for pictures and accepted a jersey emblazoned with the number 45.
The affair has become a presidential tradition since Ronald Reagan began hosting championship teams in the 1980s. But while Trump went out of his way to shine a light on a team that toils outside the big-money Division I programs, his personal attention to the Bison stood in contrast to the cold shoulder the White House has given to female athletes.
Not a single womens championship team has made a solo visit to the White House under Trump, although several womens teams participated in an event in 2017 during which Trump celebrated numerous mens and womens college champions in nonrevenue sports.
The past two WNBA champions, the Minnesota Lynx in 2017 and the Seattle Storm in 2018, were not invited.
Nor was the Notre Dame womens basketball team, which won the NCAA title in 2018 before a crowd of 19,599 more than the number, 17,802, who attended North Dakotas football title game in January.
Where are the womens teams? USA Today columnist Christine Brennan, who has written extensively about womens sports, said in an interview. To me this is just a huge step backward and shows hes completely out of touch with how the nation views womens sports.

He just needs to invite this one woman team!

i thought he invited soem women’s team and they refused to attend?
Only thing is she is Australian!
If a team announces that they won’t go if asked, why ask?
How many women’s teams did the previous president’s host?
They never compare the great job they did only focus on Trump.
That makes me suspicious.
It also strikes me that they'd turn him down if invited.
The article doesn't say noine were invited, just that none were hosted.
The stuff they left out of this article speaks volumes.
Woman sports were taken over by trannies...
There’s a lot in what you say. Also, one of these womyn might decide to publicly rebuke the President on his stance on abortion and transgenderism in the army.
It is a no win situation. And these women have reaped what they’ve sewn - no invites to the White House.
I don't know. How many?
Has any president?
Have any women’s teams complained?
Is this just a complaint made up out of thin air?
My guess is no, no, and yes.
WNBA?
Might as well start inviting minor league baseball teams that win championships - they draw about the same “crowds” as the WNBA.
Will all of them be women?
Right, Trump needs to let women’s teams also grandstand and refuse an invitation. Give me a break - the whole “win a championship, come to the White House” gimmick needs to end. Reagan was a great man, but inserting the presidency into every sporting event’s championship was not one of his better ideas.
To me this is just a huge step backward and shows hes completely out of touch with how the nation views womens sports.
Actually, it shows just the opposite. No one knows or cares about women’s basketball.
Just as no one knows or cares about men’s figure skating.
Just stop the practice of inviting any sports figures. Don’t waste tax dollars on this frivolity.
And he puts ketchup on his steak! Impeach!
Yawn.
