If you’d rather install a Snap build than compile it yourself, you can get the Snap file at:
https://github.com/beakerbrowser/beaker/releases/
Beaker for later. Anyone use this yet?
Can people see/access it on a regular broswer?
You can go to their site and they explain it fairly well. But because it is a browser in it’s self you have to download it and create your unique username to get started. I did it and it seemed safe and I have had no repercussions from it.
The problem I ran into is that it is like getting a Twitter account, not that it has the social network and data security issues of a third party like Twitter, but you start with nothing and you are all alone until you start sharing files back and forth with someone.
You have to follow others and have others follow you. So what I ran into is who to trust? lol So to truly test this concept and platform correctly a group of several people who already know each other need to go get set up and start sharing with each other as a “known” trusted group first.
I tried several times to get a few others to go and do this but no one would commit to spending some time and effort to fully utilize it. The first question they ask on the account set up is “share something about yourself”. With who?
Share personal stuff with people I don’t know or might not want to know? I’m not THAT lonely yet to just advertise like that hoping I might get lucky and make a friend. If security is the object of the concept then why do this? lol :)
