As far as I know, the Salesforce Tower building is anchored to bedrock and probably not at any risk of collapsing. The Millennium Tower is the one they cut corners on, and even if it doesn't collapse in a big quake it might need to be taken down as a safety precaution.
Las Vegas made MGM completely dismantle the Harmon Tower on the Strip after it was complete due to the discovery of construction defects. There is precedent for removing faulty high-rises: Harmon Hotel Demolition.

Probably true, but it’s still in the “flatlands” part of downtown SF which a hundred years ago used to be part of SF Bay.
I stayed in the Vdara hotel right behind there when it first opened. The Harmon Hotel was actually never completed to its full floor height. They found at when they got to floor 26 that they had not engineered enough support in the structure for it to go to its 50-60 story original design.
The Vdara is around 58 floors. The Cosmopolitan right in front of it I believe is 60 floors. I stayed on the top floor of the Vdara overlooking the Bellagio. It was quite a view looking north right over the Bellagio with a big TRUMP hotel looking south at you.
