You have to be in the mood for something weird to enjoy this movie. To say it is warped is an understatement. This is a love it/hate it movie, all dependent on the viewer
I started watching it and then quit - I hated it.
Then nothing else to watch so I started watching it again and I loved it. Until I hated it again.
Did that numerous times and ended up watching the entire thing. Goofy, but also had some great meanings hidden in there. In the end I did really enjoy it.
Like Pulp Fiction...
The only vignette really warped and campy was the opening “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.” I thought all the rest were somewhat plausible.
“To say it is warped is an understatement.”
Yes, watched part of it (hubby was watching it), really quite creepy. Esp the part about the wagon train.
But, it sticks with you, that I will say.
I was obviously not in the mood and got through the girl and the cowboy discussing marriage and her blowing her brains out and I felt that that was enough. It was too dark for me. I love the Coen brothers and everything they’ve done so far, but this one was a great disappointment to me. I can’t speak for the rest of the film since I didn’t watch all of it, but they manipulated the viewer into hoping there was a positive ending and then selected the worst possible outcome. It was warped and that’s being nice.
