What I loved about it was the total departure from nearly all roles John Wayne played. His character was very dark and gritty, no sense of humor, all business. Even the Rooster Cogburn character had humor to him.
The other thing I loved was the cinematography. There were so many parts that just looked like a painting to me:

Morning!
That would be great. I know that the Wayne family controls a lot of it.

I read an article that said that it was Mohammed Ali who made the infamous quote - a black man.
Not the Duke.

They have run out of evil slave-owners to go after, I reckon.

I would like to watch it. But I don’t want to reward them. The lead actress was a Brit who called Trump the giant penis of America right before the film opened. Gosling the Canadian said he had no problem with omitting the flag because the event “transcended borders”.
Screw em. Might be a good movie but I will deny a penny to these foolish minstrels.

Yes, there are scenes in that movie that burn into your memory. The one that always grabbed me was near the end, where Ethan joins the soldiers to attack the Comanche camp. The scene was just before the attack begins, when Ethan gives a low whistle (for the soldiers to advance). There's something chilling in Wayne's eyes in that brief bit of film.

The look on his face when he goes into the cabins and sees the remains of the older daughter (IIRC)
I thought it was a powerful movie.

Me too. If it had been a simple omission, that would be one thing. But the fact that they talked about it and made it a conscious decision was a no-go for me. Plus, isn’t Gosling, the guy who plays Neil Armstrong a leftist POS? He admires George Clooney, so that pretty much tells me where he is at.

Is Bob Hope next? After all, he entertained the troops for decades.Just as soon as they can dig up an old interview of Hope that doesn't meet today's "woke" standards they'll erase him as well.
