You don’t have a communist government and free enterprise. That’s like having hot and cold at the same time. Asia is reverting to its historical past. You have authoritarian rulers running a market society. It used to be aristocracy type rule, now it’s party rule. It could well morph back to aristocracy as it is apparently doing in North Korea.

You don’t understand the Vietnamese. The government is communist, but the people aren’t.
There are more capitalists/free enterprise businesses in Vietnam that many places in the USA. For one thing, their small businesses aren’t burdened down by mountains of bureaucratic regulations, red tape and taxes.
Try putting up a store anywhere in the USA. You will need permits and inspectors and payoffs. Do the same thing in Vietnam and the business just get created and the cash comes in.
