When I said 'them' I was thinking 'fake hate crimes'... To excuse hate crimes as mental illness is to overlook the damage they're doing to the country. As far as the people are concerned - yes, hopefully they can be helped after (or while) they're paying their debt to society.

Smollett will likely get 'community service' and if the judge is smart is will be done helping Republicans hand out flyers while wearing a MAGA hat. He might discover that REAL hate is directed at Trump supporters... not the fake stuff that fuels liberal pity parties that Smollett is use to.
