Went to my first movie theater movie when 16
Second at 27.
Definitely less than 50 in my life, probably less than 25.
Have never watched any of the "awards" shows.
Last movie I saw in a theater was Saving Private Ryan.
I do not miss the theatrical experience at all.
It takes an exceptional movie to make me even watch one. Hollyweird doesnt make original movies. Hollyweird has become the propaganda arm of the left.
I haven’t gone to the movies or watched the Oscars in over 20 years, with no intention of starting again any time soon. If I wanted to see crap, there’s a barn just across the road with plenty that’s less odious.
I never watch those disgusting movies. I don't know who the actors are. I don't know what the movies are. The entire show is tasteless and unsophisticated. So are Hollywood's movies.
Many years ago, I attended a medical conference held at Opryland in Nashville. I was not impressed with Opryland, but I was struck by the similarities of the performances there and the Academy Awards. They were very much alike. The only difference was that Opryland was more wholesome and less degenerate and the Academy Awards shows were more tacky.
If you check out HBO, Cinemax, Showtime etc you'll notice
‘premium channels’ rotate the same movies. I suspect it's because so many of the new movies today are dreadful.
It's the same with Music - the newer stuff isn't even popular with young people. They're turning to older favorites. And ‘art’ - OMG what a joke.
Our ‘best and brightest’ moved into technology a few years ago and ‘the arts’ were left being run by society's dregs.
(Oh, and journalism sucks too - but for a different reason)
Unfortunately, I watched “Black Panther” & thought it was horrible, but saw it on DVD.
I watched “Bohemian Rhapsody” and thought it was very good, and that Malik absolutely deserved the Best Actor award. Odd that “Black Panther” won best score (unbelievable, actually).
But while I don’t usually take note of sound editing, given my age and the fact that sound editing is utterly horrible, I was pleased that “Bohemian Rhapsody” did win best sound editing. It was for the most part very good. Not too much “emotional whispering,” the rock music was appropriately loud when it needed to be and in the background when not the focus of the story.
BTW, a little note on “Green Book.” The writer is a Stallone-type. He wrote this 20 years ago and has been shopping it all that time.
Instead of the Oscars I watched two James Bond movies on Netflix.
Good finger and You only live twice.I havent watched a movie made in the last two years though I may be mistaken.I did watch a Dogs Purpose.Excellant movie.Almost made me cry.
The last time I went to a movie was “Iron Man” in 2008...
Haven’t missed anything...
Don't know if they're available in your area, thought that it would be worth a mention.
My wife wanted to watch Bohemian Rhapsody. Save the money and watch the 1985 Live aid clip on You Tube. Then ask yourself why they chose those songs?
none
The drive for diversity killed the Grammy's in the late 80's when they starting saying Rap was the best music.
You know that Freddie Mercury couldnt have sung half that good if wasnt a fag.
Had to go back to 2016 before I found one, the Martian and the Revenant. And I did not go to the theater to see them.
Bread & Circuses is what I think of with the Oscars. No, didn’t see any of the movies. May watch a few on Prime later.
With the thousands of pre Hollyweird movies on retro TV stations and YouTube there is no way Ill subject myself to to the crap being produced today. Its the same with music. 1975 is pretty much the cutoff date for both. Its not that Im just old, Im discriminating.
Nope - can’t recall the last time I went to a theater to see any movie. I refuse to give these people my money.
The Oscars are good for one thing, it proves w/o a shadow of a doubt that these “actors” are plain stupid. The “acceptance” speeches are gawd awful proving that these folks can’t think for themselves and need to read a script written for them to appear not ignorant.
