To: Thank You Rush

Percherons are usually black, have more slender legs than other draft horses, and are sometimes used for riding.

I believe horse shows still sell Percheron hats that say ‘I love my blacks’ but I think they’re banned from the internets.

Thanks. Our work horses were black and looked exactly like the first picture in these images... My dad was so proud of those horses. He worked on their harnesses to make everything shine for parades during WWII on Memorial Day and the 4th of July.. My brother told me once that they each probably weighed 1500# but again, did my siblings know anymore than I did? They were named Tom and Dick. I do remember when one was very sick and my father slept in his stall every night to keep him him from lying down - I think the vet had him in a sling.. He pulled through but my dad was a nervous wreck. I have pictures of them - without harnesses - and they do look like that first picture.
