A group of adult dancers says they aren’t getting a fair shake...

The dancers say now that clubs have to pay the women an hourly wage, management has been keeping a much larger chunk of their tips. They also claim that some clubs have been stealing their wages and charging dancers new fees ever since the new ruling, and they want it to stop.

“We no longer should have to pay to work. We shouldn’t have to pay house fees, we shouldn’t have to give a percentage of our tips to management or any other employees, and we want to stop the sexual harassment and assault in the clubs,” said dancer Domino Ray.

The group, which was joined by a representative from #MeToo, says the ruling has its upsides and downsides. Now that they are classified as employees, the dancers have a right to unionize, which they plan to utilize

Not anymore. CA passed some stuff recently that turned a LOT of contractors into employees. So no, they should not be paying a stage fee. But, technically, most of their tips ($20 for a dance) aren’t tips - they’re a charge for a service performed by a business employee, so now the dancers shouldn’t be getting paid that at all, unless the business pays commissions. The only actual tips are the $1 bills tossed at the main stage dancer, or if a guest pays extra after a dance. So really, the bartenders might actually start making more money now!

Question: Just HOW do you separate strippers from sexual harassment? They are considered to be sex workers. This is literally part of the job.

Let’s keep it real. Stripping for money is not and will never be an intellectual, nor a feminist, pursuit. I’m not opposed to it at all. Freedom is my thing. But stripping is 100% for titillating the sexual arousal of your clients.

Many moon ago, I was on a business trip with a young married colleague. The folks we were visiting offered to take us to a strip club. My colleague replied “If I want to see an ugly woman naked I can just go home”.

We were on our own after that.

Start you a club, honey...what could possibly go wrong?
