There could be an element of having to cook for a husband and/or children that leads to weight gain (i.e., eating your own cooking; cooking foods that you like, etc.).

I do think there's some truth also to the "lesbian by default" thing mentioned above. Living in San Francisco, I meet and know lesbians who aren't that dykish but are overweight/attractive and might have chosed lesbianism because of lack of male interest.

At the same time, as much as I wish I could agree with the "it ain't like in the movies" jokes, the sad reality is that, where I live at least, there really are some drop-dead gorgeous, feminine women who have chosen lesbianism. It truly is a mental disorder in most cases. These "lipstick lesbians," perhaps because of bad parenting that they received or some other factor that I don't understand, have rejected the natural outlet for their sexuality in favor of deviancy.

Well, bisexuality amongst women is in nowadays. Probably based more on the “Forbidden Fruit” aspect more than the natural attraction.
