Bunk. The general public will not accept hours long recharge times. EV’s may make a nice second car but not a car for road trips and general purposes. It is not a car where the temps go below 0 and above 90 with humidity. AC and heat greatly reduce range. In sunny CA it may be a good car.

...

A lot of people recharge in their garages overnight. In some places they can recharge at work. I’d rather do either one than go to a gas station.

Don’t overlook the positives.

I’m not disagreeing with you. Most of the electric car business is going to be overseas in europe and asia. the way the game is being played now the USA is going to be a minor player in very large business. that’s the meaning of all the gigafactories going up at scale everywhere but the USA.

Heck, for the sake of your own good name you should research big auto maker plans in europe usa & asia for electric car. the electric car battery makers are only keeping up with what they see as perceived future car demand based on big car maker planned roll outs.

The world changed wildly last year. please adjust your opinions accordingly. Again it ain’t about me or you for that matter.

Right here right now its only about keeping a good score card when you’re at a baseball game—or at least reading the big signs with the scores at the back of the stadium.

It is not just that. A gallon of gas contains the equivalent of 33.7 kwh. An 85 kwh tesla battery weighs 1200 pounds which is almost a third of the weight of the vehicle and several times the typical load that is being transported. All this for the equivalent of 2.5 gallons of gas, that is when the battery is new, and you cannot discharge lithium ion batteries all the way or they are permanently damaged.

And currently the materials in lithium ion batteries cannot be recycled economically. It costs ten times as much as using freshly mined materials.

Electric powered vehicles currently make sense in certain applications under specific circumstances. A very light car or scooter with very limited range and limited speed for in town use, something like a golf cart in a retirement center in Florida... yes that makes sense. Or a fork lift in Costco or Home Depot... makes sense. Virtue signaling for a single guy looking for sex from a leftist nitwits... makes sense. Primary vehicle for a family even with massive government subsidies... no way.
