Prior to 1909, all American coins had female or Indian depictions of Liberty. The Lincoln cent of 1909 was supposed to be a one-time commemorative event, but it held on. Our other coins fell into the presidential pattern over the decades due to high public and political regard for the imperial presidency.

It's time to go back to female or Indian depictions of Liberty.
