Montana should be sold to Canada to help pay off some of the U.S.'s national debt, according to a petition on Change.org.
Ian Hammond, the petition creator, wants to sell The Treasure State to the nation's neighbor to the north for $1 trillion.
We have too much debt and Montana is useless. Just tell them it has beavers or something, the petition description read.
More than 7,000 people have already signed the petition as of Tuesday. The petition was looking to garner at least 7,500 online signatures.

Same here in New Mexico. Where are you from?
Why the heck would I give a x about some guy’s opinion about Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry? I spent 30 years on the oceans and you can have the flat lands and the cold ... I’ll take the verdant hills and waterfalls looming over the BC inland passages, with the gulls and eagles ... the halibut, crab, salmon, clams and oysters - you can have the Alberta buffalo ...
LOL! That could be true!
They couldn’t afford Kalifornia if we gave it to them for $1....
Well, actually, I have it all. My land is close to the BC border, and I go there quite frequently. The decent part is that it’s northern BC and not near the hippies down to the south.
Furthermore, just because had to float around the oceans packed in like sardines doesn’t mean you should take out your regret on me. You were probably laying in your 12 inch wide bunk wishing you were a hard charging infanteer. That ship has sailed, now you must live with it.
Oh, for the eagles. There’s a big bald that keeps killing foxes etc here, he keeps giving me the eye because he’s seen me drop coyotes over 1000 yards out, but he’s safe. I don’t shoot eagles.
Well, I’m going to shove off now. Enjoy your day pondering your mistakes heh.
Cheese headed hoser, meh

Yeah—It’s a shame what’s happened there. NM has gone totally blue—and insane.
Been here since 1970, and don’t know where to go.
