Our Cane Corso Italian Mastiff absolutely LOVES to eat the damned things. She found a pile (like a double handful) in between two pillows on the Patio furniture and just stood there crunching away.
I asked Her if She wanted any salt, chocolate sauce or anything else, She just kept on eating them till they were gone.
Any that make it in the house get chased down and eaten.

Around here, Northern Virginia, the birds had been leaving them alone but one day, a huge flock of grackles landed on the deck and feasted on thousands of the bugs. Cleaned them out.
My parents had a cat that did the same thing with the 17-year cicadas. Latched her claws into the body, and ate the heads.
