John Wayne was trending this morning, and its not his birthday. What gives?
Apparently, some SJW dug up an old John Wayne Playboy interview from 1971, and this SJW was SHOCKED to find that the world has changed in terms of how people talk about race and sexuality.

Yes, really.

Oh, FFS! When is it going to be enough for these people?
With a lot of blacks, theres quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so, Wayne says. But we cant all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I dont believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgement to irresponsible people. Playboy shoots back, asking him how hes qualified to judge which blacks are irresponsible and which of their leaders inexperienced?
Its not my judgement, Wayne says. The academic community has developed certain test that determine whether the blacks are sufficiently equipped scholastically. But some blacks have tried to force the issue and enter college when they havent passed the tests and dont have the requisite background. He goes on to say that, as for Hollywood, he gave blacks their proper position in two films he directed. I had a black slave in The Alamo, and I had a correct number of blacks in The Green Berets. If its supposed to be a black character, naturally I use a black actor I think the Hollywood studios are carrying their tokenism a little too far.
Wayne also expressed extremely homophobic views in the interview, specifically about the 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy. Playboy asks Wayne which movies he considers perverted. He responds, Oh, Easy Rider, Midnight Cowboy that kind of thing. Wouldnt you say that the wonderful love of those two men in Midnight Cowboy, a story about two f**s, qualifies?

Never. They love being outraged.

Idabelle: "I sure hope there's some colored folks on that boat. I is gettin' mighty tired pretending Eskimos are from Virginia."
One of the most eye-opening experiences I had in college was reading the English translation of the war crimes trails in Poland after WWII.
What stood out in my mind was their accounts of the behavior of the SS; according to the Poles the SS was riddled with homosexuals and the first thing they would do when they came into a town, village or city they would go looking for young boys.
This was so repugnant to the Polish people that they executed anybody and everybody involved in this abomination.
It was just a slide on the slippery slope - a way to get porn to men.
It worked at the time.
Heston’s response? “It’s called ACTING, John. You should try it sometime.”
While it is true that John Wayne only played himself, he was such a great guy that that should suffice.
The same is true of Jimmy Stewart.
PLAYBOY: You blame all this on liberals?
WAYNE: Well, the liberals seem to be quite willing to have Communists teach their kids in school. The Communists realized that they couldn't start a workers' revolution in the United States, since the workers were too affluent and too progressive. So the Commies decided on the next-best thing, and that's to start on the schools, start on the kids. And they've managed to do it. They're already in colleges; now they're getting into high schools. I wouldn't mind if they taught my children the basic philosophy of communism, in theory and how it works in actuality. But I don't want somebody like Angela Davis inculcating an enemy doctrine in my kids' minds.
As long as they don't rename the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. It has a great air museum. Lyon Air Museum I think. Been there twice. A very wonderful place to visit before hopping over to the terminals to catch your flight.
Our local revived “Orpheum Theatre”, with a great stage, beautiful gilded Victorian architecture, and a big movie screen shows classic movies in the summer.
They showed things like “Wizard of Oz” or old Hitchcock movies, and even some newer ones. Last year, after over a decade (or maybe two!) of showing it every year, they banned “Gone With the Wind”.
I emailed and told them no more expensive Orpheum tickets for me. My wife used to love it when I took her to see touring Broadway shows and concerts. Oh well.
