Anyone really interested in Q knows how to scroll. Shoppers who have no intention of buying are generally the ones to pop in and complain about how we decorate with that Opening to the thread, and then buzz right back to the Ain’t it awful” threads. (No offense.)
After all the cranks we’ve had to indulge in order to keep our presence around here, we’ve earned a long hall way, for visitors, before ever pulling them up a chair & seating them in the living room by the fire.
Heck, the rules for this thread are unique to any other. We can’t fight back. We can’t call “troll” on TROLLS, can’t link to our sources, can’t take a swing at goons begging for it— we’re a fine Sunday School class, nearly as prim as the girl thread, where they photograph their intake and how well it all goes down and do tips on how to frost cookies.
I KNEW there was a good reason I've never been to that other thread. I always did hang out more with the boys than the girls (in birth order, I'm the 3rd child and only female of the first four of us kids. The following three are girls, which translated to me as : more work, babysitting, being gentle when I wanted to scream...and discussing "delicate" subjects.)
Thank God he blessed me with two boys...and I'm adequate at most guy things....(except that race thing on Sunday. I never watch those, but when I only get 2 channels...it was on, and I had to call my sister and ask her if I was watching smash-up derby (which I like!)0

Thank you for the delightful imagery. I had thought of it as a “citizenship test” but that didn’t feel right; your long hallway to the living room is perfect!
We have more than one group here, and I consider it a courtesy noobs show us if they take the time to look at the exhibits in the hallway on their way in.
There’s a variety among thread regulars. We have a group on the run, reading phones and they don’t have time for our interaction - they’d prefer we leave info on the porch.
Then there’s the group posting and analyzing together - they benefit from taking a seat in the living room and conversing.
All are welcome and we’ll try to develop what works for as many people as possible.
