You can't keep the ocean at bay. Nature always wins.
The same thing is happening in SE LA and the Gulf Coast. Building where floods wiped everything out. Building LOOKING at the Gulf. And people buy the condos, ect. The money is in BUILDING. Big money for contracts and taxes, safely banked. and when the STUPID buy the properties and lose them to flood and/or hurricanes they don't care! Your couple of hundred thousand is petty change, the contractors and developers have it and if people are STUPID enough to want to build in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, they will build it for you and laugh like hell when it washes away!
