How is saving threatened species a long-term benefit? Couldn’t it be argued that we’re disrupting the Darwinian cycle by interfering with natural extinction processes? Aside from giving some blubber-huggers a warm fuzzy, what value do manatees bring mankind?

Could it be God’ s way of saying it’s time and guided people to invent power boats? He does work in mysterious ways. I had some dealings with the save the manatee folks and under it all, they’re just like all the other eco wankers.

I agree. Darwin said it’s about the survival of the fittest. I can’t think of one extinct critter or plant or anything else that is missed.
