The fake sugar is literally (using the word correctly) poison. It may be slow acting. But its actively harming you.
If you drank 2 cans of real sugar (try to avoid the corn syrup kinds) soda a day, while it not being a health boost, just count that sugar as part of your daily carbs and cut some other thing. Especially if you are otherwise healthy and slender, 2 cans of regular soda is light years better than the aspartame or sucralose. Light years.

AFAIK, no study has yet managed to definitively, prove any causal relationship between artificial sweetener consumption and any disease or disorder. The best they’ve managed are studies like this that have found correlations, and only weak ones at that.
