I just did Boston from the north yesterday - 495 & 93. On the way in @ 0600, gridlock starts around Wilmington (approximately 16 miles from Boston). On the way out @ around 1600, gridlock lasts all the way to Reading (10 miles from Boston), with stop and go the rest of the way.

It makes the commuter rail, which sucks and is expensive, a dream in comparison.

Only a temporary problem.
AOC will confiscate the cars, ground the aircraft, and put in TONS of high-speed rail. (All solar powered.)

Problem solved.

No jobs, no traffic jams of people struggling to get to “work.”

She’s a genius, I tell ya...

That used to be my life during the years I worked up in Boston. I had to commute from Chelmsford which put me on 495/93/128 on a regular basis, not to mention Route 3, which while made wider, still bottlenecks badly when it reaches 128.

Two hour commutes (each way) was the norm.

I then moved to a job in NYC and I figured I was in for even a worse time but I was pleasantly surprised. Traffic in and around NYC moves pretty well - at least compared to Boston.

That said, the commuter trains ARE a dream. I take the Metro North out of Connecticut and into Grand Central and it's a very nice ride. Plus you can grab a beer for the way home - if you are so inclined. Still a two-hour commute but more pleasurable with my iPad, my Kindle and my evening beer.

And with the traffic... these companies keep putting the jobs in Boston. Go figure.

Not long ago, I had to drive from Watertown to Logan to drop someone off. With 5 minutes at the airport, it took me 3 1/2 hours for the round-trip. Maybe 7 miles each way.

After that painful lesson, I’ve given up on job opportunities in Downtown Boston.
