Ok from what I gathered, the planes aren’t directly over each other. They’re offset enough for them to see each other.

Yeah, that’s what I get from the videos, too. Very difficult, but not impossible. I’d guess that the offset is just enough (but no more) for them to see each other over the lip of the cockpit. I wonder if you could do that “for real” using the all-around sensors on the F-35.
