Neither do you. You don’t know to resist having an answer for everything. Besides, the clear answer is someone must have poached it and drove away, threw it in a circus car with dumbo the elephant, etc.

Repeat after me... shrug and say ...nothing.

Go ahead. I don’t care. I’d shoot the thing too. Your idea won’t work. There are so many cameras now, it wouldn’t be that hard to find the vehicle and disprove your assertion of poachers. The data will reveal the thing stopped at your place and left at a high, sustained rate of speed, at least for a cat. Have at it. Good luck.

I might be tempted to walk the collar all over God’s creation before disposing of it. Still, they could follow the trail and the lack of cat prints or other signs would sink me. Maybe trap a deer and put it on it but that’s another violation. Stray dog might work. for while.
