The fact that most American public schools don’t require Latin, is why Brits consider us poorly educated. And they’re right.
I would have to agree; when I see a word that I do not know I start looking for its roots: Latin, and in the sciences: Greek. These younger folk today have not been taught how to think, and to think things through (as Q says.)
