My best guess is that said general is too full of himself to concern himself with such things, and leaves the uniform prep to his aide (whom you KNOW will be blamed for the mistake)
I just assumed he didn’t wear them very often and hurriedly grabbed them and didn’t notice they were upside down. Of course I’ve been known to wear two different shoes or socks or left my keys at grocery, bank or gas station. Not all of us are well organized.
