good morning... I am not always into breakfast but today at my friends house just whipped up two poached eggs atop QUALITY ‘woodstock’ ...yup that is the name of the bread from the Great Harvest Bread Company... and some cheddar cheese atop the bread. Also a bowl of strawberries, blueberries and banana.
Last night made some soup. Just used what I found in frig here and there and it was good. My hostess raved and raved. She is a good cook but cooks make different things and she doesn’t do soups or crock pot stuff in general. Considering she works full time and is in general full of anxiety and doesn’t handle stress that well, it is great she cooks well and often at all. When I worked full time coming home and cooking was not high on my to do list.
soup was a mixture of sautéed: onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, broccoli, garlic... cheeses were brie; cheddar and half a bottle of Walnut Creek Cheddar dip; half and half; ACV various dried seasonings(dill, oregano, coarse sea salt, fresh ground black pepper). Had originally intended to make a hearty potato cheese soup but modified it. I topped both soups with shredded mexi blend cheese and hers with cooked bacon (the kind you buy in a bag)
I made her a deluxe sandwich which she took half to work today. Thin sliced roast beef; honey ham and turkey .. thick amount of meat. muenster and cheddar cheese; sliced tomato; spinach and the spread a mixture of mayo; champaign mustard and minced onion that I made up early so flavors would blend. Put it on the woodstock bread. Was a HIT! Mine was the same minus the meat.
I am feeling better but still very fatigued and a lingering deep cough. I have slept relatively well the past few nights here. making progress but not out of woods and find naps a frequent occurrence.
thanks for all you share. It is the crux of the following week thread as most of you know. I intend the new thread to be on Monday .. early on day of the rally (whoopee.. a rally and in EL PASO.. what a genius our guy is)
Good to hear that you are doing better, Dolly.
Keep cooking like you are, and you might be there awhile......
Good morning, Dolly.

All the food sounds absolutely delish!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Woodstock bread?...LOL Why anything else...LOL Woodstock great to hear from you. Eating healthy food...I like hearing this. Thinking of you and praying you’re health returns. Glad you have a travelling companion. They are God’s gift.
So good to hear you’re doing better, staying warm. How’s the kitty?
Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Your soup and sandwiches sounds WONDERFUL!!
That soup sounds fantastic. Just so does the sandwich. I’ll take one with meat please :-)
It was 75 yesterday, going to be in the forties today. So I think I’m going to make pot roast with some pea soup. Not mixed together. All this is just to go with the sourdough bread I am attempting to make. I found yet another recipe that promises to be super sour, had it for menting for 12 hours overnight, shaped it, and now it will rise another four. I’ve been disappointed before but I will keep my fingers crossed. I don’t have hopes of making anything like San Francisco bread, but just a teeny bit of sourness would be nice.
Glad you are back here rusty! I saw you had been a wall for the most part the last few days. Hope you had fun with the grandkids.
