I remember reading an article stating, that if we could see it, the Andromeda galaxy would fill a quarter of the night sky.
You can see it (with 1 being bright and 6 being about as dim as can be seen): With an apparent magnitude of 3.4, the Andromeda Galaxy is among the brightest of the Messier objects[16] making it visible to the naked eye from Earth on moonless nights,[17] even when viewed from areas with moderate light pollution.
As can be seen in the figure, Andromeda galaxy is just a rather SMALL spec in the night sky (compare it to the size of the trees shown). This is because the galaxy is approximately 2.54 ± 0.11 MILLION light years away from us.
