It would need massive support and anchors combined with the elasticity of a wet noodle.
Possible, not probable; still I hope they go for it!
If you want some fruit, you need to climb out on the limb.

Tis a far,far better thing than HS rail.

Just think of the new improved Lake Shore Drive (Chiraq) and the tolls it would bring in! Endless kickbacks!!!
The 0bama mistake on the lake could expand to the water’s edge!

I know nothing about engineering but saw a show about the building of an island to accommodate an airport in Osaka,Japan and IIRC it had some of the things that you mentioned.

That would be quite a ride inside the tunnel as the ocean waves whip the tunnel around. Ships go to the bottom all the time. The ‘tunnel’ is mostly there.
