How long do the protein bars “keep”? I’ve been looking at them (no, not the connivance store ones either); something more GNC based? (Or is there a difference?)

We put some of the bars in bug-out bags a few years ago. A couple years later, we were doing maintenance, and they had turned to disgusting dust. Maybe double wrapped (Ziploc) or something would be an option.
