One of the problems was that there was such a demand for natural gas that there is now a shortage.

Customers have been asked to dial their thermostats back to 63.

So, what happens when all the kids get to school and the school loses heat?

Who wants to own that risk?

If 100 kids go to school there is one building to heat to keep them warm and 100 homes where the temperature can be turned down while the kids are in school and the parents are at work. Less demand for natgas that way.
