Missouri school ponders white-only racism workshop
A Missouri school is considering a segregated safe space for white students to talk about their racism and white privilege.
Vincent Flewellen, chief diversity officer at Webster University in St. Louis, has plans for a new program based off a book, titled, Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk About Race and How to Do It." The local Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) began the "Witnessing Whiteness" program, which requires participants to be white. If brought to Webster University, the workshop would launch in late 2019.

They already did two of them this year at our high school. Some parents were mad after the first one and complained, so the principal sent out an email telling everyone how wrong they are to disagree with what the government decides is best. Then they had another meeting to warn the kids about committing thoughtcrime, and to tell them to narc on their peers who commit thoughtcrime.
My kids don’t go to public school.
Are you serious? They are pulling this racist crap at High schools now as well? That blows my mind. Have the parents considered filing a class action lawsuit? That’s what I would do.
They paid big speaking fees to have an “anti-oppressive educator” come speak. I know they did it at the high school and community college, but this particular “anti-oppressive” speaks at all levels of schools.
Parents say nothing publicly. If you publicly speak out, you’re labeled an “oppressive.” The anti-oppressives are leading the charge against the likes of you and your intolerance.
By the time the kids are in high school the parents are checked out. Parents who have told me for years that the schools are fine are now telling me, “Yeah, the schools are so bad but my kid is out in a few years so we made it through.” It’s only once kids are flunking out or dropping out that the parents of high schoolers wake up a little - of course then they flounder around for someone else to take responsibility.
The problem is, if you let yourself see how bad the schools are, then you have to either do something about it, or admit to yourself that you are not providing your kids with a good education sending them to those schools. Actually, you might even have to admit to yourself that you’re harming your kids by sending them to public school.
