“Chief Meth-Mouth” was reportedly AWOL several times. This would account for failure to reach PFC? Or getting busted back to Private via Article 15?
Chief Meth-Mouth
Now that’s good.
And totally descriptive.
And native Americans have enough problems without an idiot such as this acting as if he’s anything they’d be proud of.
If a guy was stupid enough and timed each AWOL to be about six months apart, then he’d get busted down in rank, and leave service at E1/E2.
I recall some Army associate bringing up the story of some 20-years of service guy getting busted three times in the last six years of service and retiring at E5. In today’s atmosphere, after the second Article 15, most of the services would find a way to prevent you from re-enlisting.
It depends on how long he was AWOL for. Less than 30 days, it’s typically handled through NJP (Non-Judicial Punishment). The commanding officer decides your guilt and punishment at a legal hearing. If guilty, you’ll usually lose a stripe, a couple hundred dollars a month for awhile, be restricted to base for 45 days, and get 45 days extra-duty (most of your evenings and weekends are spent cleaning latrines, helping in the mess hall, unloading supply trucks, fun things like that).
If you’re AWOL for 30 days or more, now you’re a “deserter”. That’s handled by court-martial and you can get prison time.
Chief Meth-Mouth is good! I’ve started calling him Sitting Bull$#!+.
