We’re not the ones with veto power. Trump is. Could he have held up the tax cuts over the border wall by threatening a veto? Yes. Did he? No. Remember - the globalist wing of the GOP needs immigration restrictionists to get their agenda through.
And yet, when he had majorities in both chambers, he failed to make the wall his #1 priority. The result of Trump failing immigration patriots? He may not be re-nominated, let alone re-elected. This is why he’s flailing around with this theatrical shutdown, which will achieve nothing, because the Democrats don’t have persuadable Congressmen in the house. Whereas, for two years after his election in 2016, Trump could have at least threatened to primary any recalcitrant GOP House members the way he forced Corker and Flake out of their seats. But he never did.
I’m a results-oriented person. I judge people by their results, not by their explanations or excuses. By that measure, Trump has fallen flat on his face re immigration. He has put immigration restriction last on his list of priorities. And that will haunt him in 2020 with the voters who believed his promise to put it first.
You are full of arrogant defeatism. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Too bad you never learned that fact.
I agree with Trump’s moves and you will find out ultimately that you are so far off base with your arrogant analysis that you’re not even in the same country as Trump and his supporters. It’s amazing how some can spew nothing but negativism given the slightest opportunity. Happily, I see the wall being built, and sooner than you and your cohorts think.
