My uncle fought in WW1 and WWII...lt Colonel. When he died in 1971 he left me a bunch of stuff from WWII including all his medals and a Beretta pistol.
He also took hundreds of pictues covering a lot of scenes in Europe. I have this one picture of him and Eisenhower in some room playing cards and a few empty beer bottles laying around.
His wife, my aunt, was also a Lt Colonel and served in postwar Japan during MacArthur’s military governership. I used to love to hear their stories.
Speaking of WWI...I hope everyone had the chance to see “The Shall Not Grow Old”.
Daddy had a bunch of photos and I got several hundred more as the Daughter of one of his battalion mates, contacted as many as she could a few years ago and got a whole bunch of them.
I posted a lot of them here on FR. Several included Churchill, Patton, Eisenhower, Montgomery and more. All of them original unpublished, many historic.
