Maybe not. I never said the picture was sunny.

Of course he caved today.
Could that change in 3 weeks?
It certainly could.
But today he caved.

Yeah, like Washington caved at Brooklyn.

It was a strategic retreat to buy him three more weeks to get the Democrats to rein in Pelosi's absolutism.

You don’t seem to know the difference between today and 3 weeks
from now. Everything you wrote has to do with what could or will
happen 3 weeks from now.
I’m hoping and praying u r right about what happens 3 weeks from now.
However, today Trump caved.

Three weeks from now wouldn't be a possibility if not for what happened today.

Trump is showing himself to be the reasonable one, to a point.

We'll see what happens three weeks from now, but what do you think would have been the state if affairs between now and three weeks from now if nothing changed?

Maybe you can paint a picture for me of what the next three weeks would have looked like if Trump did not do this, since I painted a picture of what the next three weeks would look like now that Trump DID do this?

Sorry, I can’t predict the future.
I can only say what happened today.

If you can't predict the future, then you can't make informed judgments based on past experience.

It's not about "predicting" the future, it's about observing past trends, seeing the peaks and valleys, behaviors, inputs and responses, actions and reactions, and inferring a swing that represents the probable spread of outcomes that have been observed in the past.

Nobody can "predict" the future, but we can look back in the past to see the worst cases, the likely cases, and the outcomes in between to infer a probable range of a future outcome set.

It's clear that you don't want to do that. You don't want to go out on a limb and role-play all the possible give and takes that both sides are likely to play out. You just want to throw dirt around now because the future scares you.

Thanks for playing. Bye.

Sorry.
I and some others here simply are pointing out what happened today.
You can call it a retreat if it makes you feel better.
However, many of us know exactly what happened today.

Trump needs to listen to Jeremy Foley:

“What should be done eventually, must be done immediately”

John Adams is found to be truthful in his statement.
Our Constitution has been shown to be ONLY for particular persons.
One must have a firm base in order to build a sturdy structure.
WHO? in DC has such?
And yet WTP thought nothing about putting these 'folks'
in charge of the way WE are to live under these tyrants.

There is something to be learned here.
Something He might be attempting to teach us, the mortal man.

Might He be "building character"; be it good and virtuous?
or allowing us to see the real character concealed within.

If NOT TRUMP, what alternative might there be. NONE! He fights alone,
with little support from the party. He is attempting to fight with both hands
tied by congress, party, deep state, judicial. That he has
managed to accomplish so much gives hope that his plan
in this instance will be just as fulfilling.

Look, I'm not trying to be hard. I don't pick fights here.

I simply think that if you're going to challenge my prediction of how things are going to play out, then you ought to offer your own counter view of things.

If you're not willing to share a counter view, then what's your interest in challenging my view other than to gripe about it?

You said that Trump caved. So, what does that look like? What's going to happen in the next three weeks that is predicated on a cave? If you can't articulate that, then how do you know it's a cave?

Two weeks ago Trump promised to open the government immediately if the ‘rats would consider giving him money for the wall - Pelosi said “no” - last Saturday Trump offered a deal to get the government open, including favors for the ‘rats’ favorite DACA’s, and Pelosi said “no” - yesterday every Republican in the House voted to pay workers immediately even though the government was still shut down - only 17 ‘rats joined them and the bill failed - and still today the great ignorant thoughtless public blames Trump and Republicans for the shutdown- I’m not hopeful that in three weeks the dunces that ultimately decide our fate are going to learn anything - they have to watch the Super Bowl next weekend, donchaknow......

I don't know who that is.

I don't think we're at the point of "must." I think we're still at the point of "...cooler heads will prevail before we reach the next step."

We just need that cooling period for this to happen. That's what negotiators do when they still want a deal. They take a break and let both sides cool down and reassess their positions.

“The US does not have individuals willing to sacrifice personal gains for the good of the country.”

The left has plenty of individuals willing to sacrifice for what THEY believe is for the good of the country.

It’s us on the right that aren’t unwilling to do the same for our values.

When it comes to the culture war we are getting slaughtered, and given are apathy, rightly so.

Former UF AD, who fired Ron Zook in the middle of the season, using that quote.

I think we pretty much are at the point where if it isn’t done now, it will never get done.

I think we have three weeks.

The first test of good faith will be if Pelosi agrees to the SOTU address, given what Trump just did.

She must know that he's going to use that address to make his case, plus paint a vision for America that's counter to her own. Will she renege on the comment that she only canceled it because of the shutdown, or will she move the goalposts now to keep Trump from address the nation in "her" chamber?

So, we don't have to wait three weeks to see if Democrats are good-faith negotiators, we only have to wait for a day or two to see the fate of the SOTU address to see if Pelosi is sincere or not.

Then it's on the rest of the Democrats to decide what to do.

I don’t have a counter view. I hope what you predict comes true
in 3 weeks.
However, I live in the moment.
And today’s moment was not good for Trump.
