Using sites like Realclearpolitics has become utter frustration. Dozens of popup ads assault you in each article.
Can anyone suggest an ad blocker that works?
Thanks.
AdBlock for either Chrome or Edge.
Switch to Brave browser and it will automatically solve a long list of obnoxious impositions from websites, without needing to configure it in detail.
Lucianne.com is still the worst.
Yrs and yrs ago they had ads that would roll right across the screen at random times.
I rarely go there but just visited with uBlock Origin in Chrome on Windows 10 and had no popups.
Brave is also a good choice
I visit RCP daily and have zero problems.
Yeah.
Stay OUT of the briar patch. Any briar patch.
I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus and NoScript installed.
I see zero pop-ups. I had forgotten that they still exist.
Go to Freerepublic.com instead .
I hear its a good place.
On FireFox, I use AdBlock Plus, NoScript, and Ghostery.
Of course, with it’s constant updates, Firefox tries to break them as quickly as possible, but they catch up pretty quickly. So I’ve gone to Brave as my default browser, but haven’t tried the current version yet to see how it works.
If you are still using IE, I have no sympathy for your situation.
uBLOCK ORIGIN. 1.16 is version I have. But still get some popups. Unavoidable on some sites.
I agree... I like Brave also. And it can be installed on Linux...

I use AdBlock Plus, and still get pop ups.
AdBlock works on Chrome and Edge. Be forewarned though, some sites will hound you mercilessly to turn the AdBlock off, the two worst being FoxNews and Daily Caller.

Likewise.
agree with above
use brave browser
I like to use the adblock to block the popups hounding me about the adblock.
Sometimes it makes the content inaccessible. That would be a shame if any of the content on the web was unique and/or valuable. Since it typically isn’t, I get a few minutes’ distraction fiddling with the adblocker, then either peruse the site or go elsewhere, depending on the result.
I really don’t particularly mind inobtrusive ads in the header/footer or sidebar as long as they’re not popping up, rearranging the screen, or otherwise being a nuisance (I’m talking about you autoplay-video-with-sound).
But since advertisers can’t be trusted to not make nuisances of themselves, I just block them all. I’d like to provide more revenue to the sites but my feeling is that, if the site owners were really worried about ad revenue, they’d rein in the nuisance ads. They seem to be more about tricking unsuspecting visitors into racking up trick-clicks whether or not the user actually looks at the ad. As long as that’s the game, I’m blocking it all.
Pop-up insanity, isn’t that the psychological condition affecting Anthony Wiener?
