Just checked again and the diocesan website still has the statement defaming the students.

I guess they haven't heard of the 8th commandment ("Thou shalt not bear false witness...") (9th commandment by Protestant count). At a minimum it is irresponsible to rush to judgment without trying to ascertain the truth. Maybe the MAGA caps mean that the students forfeit the right to have their side of the story heard before judgment is passed.
