A bald eagle ended up stealing a fisherman's first catch and it was all caught on camera. The fresh fish was lying on the ice in Windham, Maine, while the angler continued to fish. The sharp-eyed eagle had other ideas - and seeing the freshly caught meal ready for the taking, it was hard to resist.

So, the bald eagle claimed the first one as its own. No wonder the federal government adopted the bald eagle as the national symbol.

I’ve been camping in the Everglades there were crows that would steal food off your plate if you walked away.

Same with Stellar Jays in the Rockies.

Not to mention that it is impossible for an animal to steal anything.

Good point. The entire concept of ‘stealing’ is alien to animals in general. It’s a morality issue that simply does not apply to God’s creatures. We humans know it’s wrong because most of us have some kind of moral compass and an upbringing that taught us stealing is wrong.

I personally put stealing, lying, and child molesters all in the same category of wrongness. Maybe I’m a little too rigid sometimes.

Anyone who lives near Bald Eagles can have this type of opportunity to film them like this.

I see them all the time around the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. In fact, there is one always sitting on top of cell-tower, where he (she?) has built a nest. And, it's always looking down on us when we do any backyard activities, especially when we do any grilling.

As teenagers we would hold up french fries to let the seagulls take them. After a few freebies we would swat them with right hooks. Rats with feathers.

It is fun to watch them fly right behind the lobster boats.
The fisherman throw out the lobsters they can not keep either because of size or sex. The gulls will catch them right out of the air before they hit the water.

There is a restaurant on the Merrimack river in Newburyport, MA that has a huge wrap around deck overlooking the water. The gulls just sit there waiting for people to leave leftovers. Also, in the summer you will sea huge striped bass hanging out right around the deck. People will throw scraps for the fish to eat. Sometimes it becomes a fight for the food between a 3’ fish and a seagull.

I used to live near a lake 50 miles inland from the ocean. There was a flock of about 15 seagulls that lived on this lake that was only about 2 miles long. Late afternoon the birds would fly over to the neighboring towns open landfill and eat trash. Then they fly back just be dark to hang out on the lake. Eventually, they closed the landfill and the birds moved away. The problem was they stayed all year round even when the lake was frozen over. They were a menace.

Rats with wings.
