A crucial non-interference, non-helmet-to-helmet call cost the Saints a spot in the Super Bowl and provided a crushing loss to end the season for a second straight year as the Rams won with a field goal in overtime 26-23.
After the game, Saints head coach Sean Payton said the NFL head of officials admitted they had missed the call, saying that it was not only pass interference, but a helmet to helmet hit. If the call had been made, the Saints could have killed the clock and tried a chip shot field goal...

They could have done that BEFORE the non-call play! Instead Payton ran 3 pass plays in a row and only ran off 8 seconds from the clock.
Also they made the FG. They then failed to stop the Rams receivers from making catch after amazing catch to tie it. And then Brees got picked, and Goff made an amazing throw to set up the looonnng FG to win it.
Ridiculous whining from the 'Aints. Suck it up.
You don’t “miss” calls like that. So obvious. Reminds once again of the corruption of professional sports.
I personally could not care less about this or any other NFL game.

Agree. And to all those who say well the Saints could have won it in overtime? They wouldnt have had overtime if that call hadnt been blown. The Refs wanted LA. The Refs in the AFC game want KC. The first time Ive watched ANY NFL this year. Wont care about the Super Bowl this year. either. May as well call it the Refs Bowl.
I wouldn’t mind. Since Detroit doesn’t have a team that plays pro football I only watch the division champion and SB. /S
Me too. Won't bother with watching the SB, I just hope New England or KC crushes the Rams*.
It also shouldn't take that long. When I was watching the games, I usually knew on the first replay if it was a bad call or not.
Respect the refs. Lol
Respect the refs. Lol
If it were college, the defender would have been tossed for “targeting”.
I would sue class action for my money back. This was a fraud!!!
Fans lose focus and think teams are opposing each other. In reality, each team, and the officials are employees of the same organization, the NFL. Employees of the league does what the league wants.
This will be changed next season.
This case was a blatant no call of both PI and helmet to helmet. Many other games have been decided by phantom PI or no PI calls.
Rams “championship” deserves an asterisk.
This calls for the COURTS!!
Ultimately, bad calls are also part of the game, the ridiculously overpaid game. If the helmet-to-helmet / pass interference had been called, the Saints would have had a shot at winning it with a field goal after running the clock down to near-zero, but then had he missed the kick, they'd have had to go into overtime anyway. Early in the season it looked like the Rams-Chiefs Super Bowl was probable, but the Chiefs will have to do a little better from her on out to make that happen.
Darn right. Football has good and bad calls. It’s part of the game.
I finally decide to watch the second half of a game, and this happens.
Guess I know now that I wasn’t missing much by not watching the NFL this year.
