The "Good Ol' Days"...

...after the Trimline Phones came thru,

I had a company-owned Motorola "Brick" Phone, for a year, when I worked in Midtown Manhattan,

And I had a Motorola "Bag" Phone, for a couple years, until the clamshell cellphones arrived.

OMG. Were you that guy?

I was riding a cross town bus in Manhattan one day and I saw a guy walking down the street using a brick phone.

They were just coming out and it was the first time I saw someone using it.

My first car phone was a trunked radio system. 1988 maybe. You had a different phone number for every tower you passed if I recall correctly. A buck a minute if you were away from home. Maybe fifty cents a minute at home.

The wife and I were watching one of my favorite movies “Wall Street” the other night. When the scene with Michael Douglas walking on the beach with the brick phone came on I asked her if she remembered how cool those brick phones were way back when. “Money never sleeps, sport.”

My first cell phone that I got in ‘91 was a bag phone. I still had my first contract from back then until Verizon shafted me last year. Unlimited minutes and unlimited data. They didn’t like the unlimited data part.
