Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full-trance mediums, the Loch Ness Monster and the theory of Atlantis?
If so, good news theres a new Ghostbusters movie in the works.
Entertainment Weekly has learned exclusively that Jason Reitman will direct and co-write an upcoming film set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie, which was directed by his father, Ivan Reitman.
Ive always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans, Reitman says. This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the 80s happened in the 80s, and this is set in the present day.
Sony Pictures has dated the film for Summer 2020, with plans to start shooting in a few months.
Its still too soon to reveal the plot of the screenplay, who the new characters will be, or whether the original actors like Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, or Bill Murray will return. Harold Ramis died in 2014.
This is very early, and I want the film to unwrap like a present. We have a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet, says Reitman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Monster House and Poltergeist remake filmmaker Gil Kenan.

“Ghostbusters 2020: Transexual amputee SJWs team up to defeat and capture the evil, conservative ghosts of George Washington, Ben Franklin, and other Founding Fathers. Starring Kathie Griffin, RuPaul, Kaitlyn Jenner, and featuring Rachel Maddow as the brainy, wisecracking Professor. Rated R for language and utter stupidity.”
They needed a palate cleanser for the dreadful chick flick version.
Apparently, in Hollywood at least, there are no more stories left to be told...

The first 5-10 minutes of Ghostbusters has the shock scene with Bill Murray in his prime. I never tire of it.
Hate to break this to ya’...but there is a sizable segment of the population who want and need sequels. You can here them talk about the significance of characters in movies as if they are speaking about real events and people. Also note the huge followings for mini series tv shows. You are correct that originality trumps sequels but movies are about MONEY...ideas are tertiary in the movie universe. Box office...good filming experience(i.e...salary..locale...food...drugs...sex)....then ideas. All meant to placate viewers need to escape the perceived banality of their existence.Cuz shakers and movers dont talk about movies much.
Before this were 30’s/40’s films like “Ghoster Chasers” etc. One starred Oliver & Hardy, or Richard Carlson and possibly StepNFetchit as in “Feets don’t fail me now”.
Another film had Bob Hope in it, or was that the one with Richard Carlson? Don’t have a movie guide around right now.
Larry Storch. Just turned 96 and still kickin’.
Aw, I liked the female reboot.
