Granted its a horrible way to die, but can somebody seriously answer a question. Diseases like ebola and bird flu cause a few hundred deaths per year and they cause worldwide panic. The flu caused 80,000 deaths last year in the US alone, but it doesnt even make the news

The potential for an Ebola pandemic and the ensuing chaos and death toll from it vs. things like the flu are what sets the mind wondering in horror, so it makes for better news (more sensational).

Because flu doesn’t fire up the media,it’s a “dull” disease..

The murder of Jon Benet got world-wide coverage,and still does, yet many other young children were murdered and got virtually no publicity at all.

It’s a disgrace.

The mortality rate for the flu last year was 0.9.
