"And the people who live in such late phases of culture whether it's the Hellenistic era, whether it's the Roman Empire feel they're very sophisticated, very cosmopolitan. But from the perspective of historical distance, you can see it's a culture that no longer believes in itself."

[”And the people who live in such late phases of culture whether it’s the Hellenistic era, whether it’s the Roman Empire feel they’re very sophisticated, very cosmopolitan”]
Witness the Huffington Post liberals at Yahoo. They are very proud of what they have “accomplished” and “are accomplishing”. And, BTW, they’re smarter than you or I. Much smarter, much more modern-thinking, much more sophisticated and more hip to social trends.
BTW, for several of them, that whole “God” and “Jesus” thing is just a myth and the Bible is an ancient relic of mythology.
Like sheep to the slaughter.
Camille Paglia is usually pretty good.
