No, you are wrong again, you can not escalate and not get charged, he escalated. They are still children, even if they are acting badly. A 11 year old girl isn’t going to be able to knock me on my rear. That is why I am not afraid of them, nor do I find the need to fight them. And if one ever does punch or push me, I will survive easily and walk away. I don’t find the need to knock out a 4th grader, to prove how manly I am.
If he was so afraid of them, why did he hang around as a challenge to fight them? If they are so violent and hardcore, why did they run away? They should have stayed and kicked old dude’s rear, took out their nines and do a gang style execution on him right on the spot. I mean, they are violent right? They all ran away like a bunch of scared little girls, oh wait.....

Maybe things have changed in the last 30-some odd years (back when I was a police officer in Texas), in that situation the police would have applauded the guy protecting himself and his family.
